The new Ambassador of Australia to the Republic of Turkey, His Excellency Marc Innes-Brown, visited the Ecumenical Patriarchate on Monday, August 28, 2017.
His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew received the Ambassador of Australia at the Phanar, where for about an hour they had the opportunity to discuss the various activities of the Patriarchate, the state of Turkey’s minorities, and the Orthodox peoples’ presence in distant Australia.
Australia falls under the spiritual and administrative jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The Holy Archdiocese of Australia includes Australia, Tasmania, and New Guinea (for a total of 134 parishes and 8 monasteries), and since 1975, has been shepherded by His Eminence Archbishop Stylianos (Harkianakis), a graduate of the Holy Theological School of Halki. Furthermore, four auxiliary bishops serve the Holy Archdiocese.
