Elevations in the Holy and Sacred Synod
and the Patriarchal Court
During today’s assembly of the Holy and Sacred Synod, His All-Holiness expressed his and the synodal body’s full appreciation to the Acting Chief Secretary, His Eminence Metropolitan Bartholomew of Smyrna, for the completion of his tenure as the head of the Synodal Office. The Very Rev. Deacon Joachim, Deputy Secretary, was appointed in his place as the new Chief Secretary of the Holy and Sacred Synod. His ordination to the Priesthood will take place this Sunday, the 8th of October, in the Venerable Patriarchal Church, by His All-Holiness. The Very Rev. Deacon Gregory was synodally appointed as the new Deputy Secretary of the Synod.
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew appointed the Rev. Deacon Paisios, former codecographer of the Holy and Sacred Synod, as the Director of the Private Patriarchal Office.
Furthermore, the Patriarch offered his heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to the Very Rev. Grand Archdeacon Andreas, and promoted him to the rank of Grand Chancellor, thus replacing the Acting Chancellor, His Eminence Metropolitan Stefanos of Kallioupolis and Madytos. His ordination to the Priesthood will take place on the Thronal Feast of the Mother Church, the Feast Day of the glorious and First-called Apostle Andrew.
His All-Holiness also elevated the Very Rev. Secondary Deacon Theodore to the rank of Grand Archdeacon. His elevation will take place in the Venerable Patriarchal Church during the Vespers Service on Saturday, October 21st. Finally, in his place, the Patriarch named the Very Rev. Deacon Nephon, who up until now had the rank of Tertiary Deacon.
